Unforeseen problems arise, and it sucks it was bad enough they had to quit. On the other hand, these things should be thought of beforehand, if the whole team was shaky on commitment. Now the entire league is affected, and everyone gets a free win.

Actually, you basically screw every other team that signed up. All teams hope to play the alloted games, and a `free win` is not want people are hoping for. They are hoping to actually play the game! There are also free agents, who could help fill out a roster.
