Subject: Time Line


To the guys who run the IFFL. You guys do a good job week in and week out. I was wondering if there is any way that the field closures could be announced earlier? I have guys who come from all over the county. Some guys have to leave by 6:30 A.M. to make the 8 A.M. games. So they are well on the way before I or anyone else knows if we are playing or not. Like to day but at least we almost played a half today. Rob you could have let us finish our game. Thanks

Not trying to blame anyone. Just asking a question. One that which you took the wrong way.

As it is the commissioners have to get up before dawn and drive to various fields to check on conditions, make sure the referees arrive and get the games off smoothly. While it would be nice to hear about closures sooner, it probably isn`t feasible short of calling games off the night before. I give them credit for trying to play today, but postponing today`s schedule was the right thing to do when playing on closed fields would risk the league`s permits. If we lose those, we have to find alternate fields in a hurry at a time of year where there probably isn`t much available.

Sure it was inconvenient to show up and not play, and worse for the teams that started something they didn`t get to finish, but DON`T blame the commissioners for this one.
