Can someone give us the story here. What happened? Were punches thrown? Anything worth knowing?

Short story
Jun 19, 2006 2:27 PM | | ; |
A bunch of us were on the sideline and saw it pretty clear. It was embarassing to watch, almost to the point of being hilarious. All of it over the kind of contact that happens ALL THE TIME, even in the lowly "non-A" leagues...so we were surprised a "veteran" went postal over practically nothing.

two more words:

I usually don`t respond to these posts, but I`m not going to let people badmouth a guy who`s a great player and a real respectable guy on and off the field. Here`s what happened:
The scrubs player involved was blocking on offense and away from the play swung not once, but TWICE at the Nova`s player and topped it off by throwing an elbow at him. This happened two plays after the same Scrubs player dropped his shouder into another teammate of mine while running back a kickoff. He was clearly way too frustrated and trying to take cheap shots at our players after being down 14-0 on a 90 degree day. I don`t care who you are, if someone starts attacking you on a hot day like yesterday, your liable to snap.
No disrespect meant to anyone else on the Scrubs. Yesterday was a great game, you all played real well and I look forward to playing you again...but there is no place in this league for little punks who have no respect and play dirty like that. Next time something worse could happen, and thats the last thing anyone in the league wants.

Scrubs Qb

As always, there are two sides to every story. I saw it clear as day about 20 feet from me, and I have to say I didnt see it like that at all. Individual versions are meaningless and best kept off this board...however, the notion that our player involved is a "punk" is absurd. He plays hard, he plays clean, and nothing even remotely like that has happened all season. We have never, and will never keep players that are instigators, no matter how good they are.
Congrats on handing us our lunch again...do I get the game ball with my 3 picks??? I sure deserve it I SUCKED HARD YESTERDAY!!!!!!!! Good game.
PS to our players, please resist the urge to chime in/lets just get past this. Also, expect a lot of non-scrubs/non-nova posts after this to try and start something...ignore those too!!!

"We have never, and will never keep players that are instigators, no matter how good they are...".
Thats why lazy is special: they may have a few talkers, but for the most part they are good guys and deserve credit. Also, give the Lions credit for (finally!) booting The Mouth. This is one reason it aint easy to make it up to legit "A": great atheletes with great sportsmanship dont grow on trees!!!!

I am surprised that the worst part about this hasnt been mentioned:
The NOVAs rolled this dude out the next playoff game to play. I didnt see the fight so I am not taking sides on that, but everyone else in this league has to sit their player out the next game...but apparently not the NOVAs. That is LOW and speaks volumes about priorities. Dont quote any IFFL vs Fairfax County crap: just be ashamed.

There is more to this story, and all three commissioners discussed it Sunday - not all were in agreement. We recognize that we need to have a policy crystallized with no ambiguities or loopholes.
