freakonomics

I think 7 yards is the magic number when comes to flag football. If it`s 4th and 7, can you convert on offense or stop it on defense. Most of the good teams can say yes to both. 5 yards is too easy for the offense and 10 yards is too easy for the defense.

thoughts?

7 yards is the perfect number. If you can get 7 yards a play you cannot lose (penalties not withstanding).

If 5 yards is so easy for an offense to get, and so difficult for a defense to stop... then why isn`t there a score on every drive?

I mean it takes 20 yrds for a 1st down in FF? You get 4 downs? 5 yrds a play?... uhmmm 4 x 5 is... ah hell, pass the chronic!

(Yeah, I said chronic.. so what, I`m old!! It`s better than "grass")

how did 7 yards become 5? Thats a big difference. 7 yards a play and you cannot lose. That is why *IMHO* offenses in this league arent all that smart and let defenses get away with soft zones. Here is a tip: most teams in this league will give you the 7 yard pass, at least to start with. TAKE IT!!!!
